I dunno if it's alright to make a thread like this but figured I might as well give it a shot. xD;
So, before we actually start the real RP thread, should we get to planning something out? (: Once everyone's got their characters and such, I mean.
...not much else to say. Just start throwing ideas out there, I guess. xD

I guess we should start thinking about what the main conflict is...

You get the award for being the fastest at responding. xD Yeah, the main conflict sounds good. Uh... we'll probably need some bad guys and such.. yep. Does Cast have any specific ideas yet?

If needed Im willing to make a bad guy! They are always the most run to write for. Maybe people rounding up some Manifested and using them for some evil purposes or something like that?

Oooh, I like that idea! And that'd give someone for Lakshmi to chase down. xD I'm also willing to write a bad guy, if need be.
That's a really good idea actually, because the Manifested powers are so strong, and if someone gave poor Manifested a doctor, then they'd be more willing to work for them.

See, I think we should do something more engaging than having "evil" people. It could be that there's an organization of Manifests who are sick of being prohibited to use their powers, or they think that they're superior to Normals and should govern themselves, or they want to infect everybody and create a super-race, or something.

That could also be a part of it. Characters can have different motivations than what their "leader" might want, so the Manifests who work for this guy might also be promoting an anarchist movement, or a new and "better" society, etc.

Actually, yes! It was only mentioned in passing in the Manifested's description, but a recent trend of "Purging" -- kidnapping Normals and redirecting the Fissure into them, overwhelming and killing them -- has broken out in New Lancaster, which has resulted in more restrictions on the Manifested. This means the Social Workers are probably a much stronger presence in the Quarantine zones, and that kind of tension never results in anything good. I like Bendi's idea, that the Manifested are growing restless and tired of being controlled. A few of them are starting to gather together, making plans. And the Purgers have not all been caught yet, so there's definitely going to be an element of paranoia and danger in the mix too. Nobody's really "the bad guy" (well, the Purgers probably won't come across as being particularly pleasant), but there is definitely conflict between the various denizens of the city -- the Social Workers are becoming more feared and resented, while they are more cautious around the Manifested because they have no idea who's going to be a Purger and who isn't, and the Normals are probably pressuring the government to move the Manifested to a different location entirely. Thoughts?

Okay, this is going to be where I step in as a huge comic book buff.
Rounding people up is the Superhero Registration Initiative, and Manifests who think they are superior is many things, but mostly it's Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
The problem is, in a world with so many superpowered beings, there's one constant- Someone is always more powerful. Tossing in an evil organization of Manifests or Normals isn't as fun because it's a faceless organization. Sure in some ways it's efficient but it's no fun when waves of grunts go speeding around waving their arms and shouting like stormtroopers.
In my experience it's also fun and an interesting change of pace to have one, maybe two, major villains with an indiscriminate goal- Blow EVERYTHING up, kill EVERYONE. Sylar, from Heroes, for example, was such a good villain because his goal was fairly simple- Feed on other people's powers and kill everyone who gets in his way.
That's what I think we should make. A Sylar. A real character with reality behind them, not a faction of baddies.
I mean we can have those too, I'm not saying we shouldn't do that as well, I'm just saying for point of reference that most of the time a chaotic neutral free agent is fun.

I don't even like having evil people, because I don't actually think that people go around saying, "Look at me, I'm going to be so evil! I'm doing so many evil things today!" They actually think that their actions are correct. So I in no way want an organization of faceless adversaries. I would like to see some real characters with real justifications behind their actions to be our antagonists.

Although it is fun to make a character who is a bumbling incompetent who thinks along the 'I'm evil and I'm doing evil things' line of thought. Like Silver-Age status 'Oh no! The super-death-beam button slipped out of my hand! Whatever shall I do! D:'

^I like that idea a lot. It also makes this whole thing a gray area. Instead of having a defined good and evil, everything is in the gray. Actions on both sides are justified, which makes it complicated and adds beautiful character development.

Hopefully nobody minds that I'm making a Chaotic Neutral character as we speak?
