It was certainly a nice evening for a walk.
Lakshmi Kavungal wore a pair of nice-looking sunglasses she'd salvaged from her time in what was once San Francisco, and took a quick glance at the setting sun as she walked down the sidewalk on her way to her nice apartment. Usually the sun was far too intense for her sensitive eyes to look at comfortably, but during the sunset and with her glasses on, she could spare a glance. Before manifesting, she remembered how much she liked the sunsets over the jungles of Kerala, at least when it wasn't raining. It didn't rain much in New Lancaster, and she was rather happy about that.
Since work was over for the day, she wore more casual clothes to allow herself to unwind. There wasn't much available in terms of fashion anymore, but a t-shirt and sweats was never hard to come by. Her hair hung down, nicely groomed despite being tied in a high, tight bun during work hours. It felt nice to let it flow, especially since with how thick and heavy it was, it often gave her headaches when she wore it up. Not that she'd ever cut it. Despite her adjustment to her new life, Lucky couldn't help but hold onto a few of the nice things that she'd known before the fissure had effected her.
The sidewalk was a bit cracked, a few sprigs of weeds showing through the cracks here and there. Her sharp eyes picked up everything within range. She had a slight headache from using her Manifestation all day, but she knew that her doctor would fix her up as soon as she got home. The apartment was still a little ways away, but she didn't really mind. It was, after all, a nice evening for a walk.

(I think I shall post in this one! ouo I'd like to test Jay out, sooooo *tosses Jay into thread*)
Sunset. Bleck! Jay disliked the colors a little at the moment. The sight of the brightness and the multitude of colors as the sun began its descent to hide from the city for the night just set blades of sharp pain through his head.
What a dispicible time of day.
Of course, he might have appreciated the sunset a little more had he not been drunk.
It wasn't to much, but it was enough that he could feel the creeping effects of a hangover soon to come. He grumbled to himself and pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a deep drag of it before blowing out a puff of smoke.
Slowly, he leaned back and put his arms on the back of the bench he sat on.
"Hm?" he muttered as something moved in his perripheral vision. It was a woman, walking down the side walk ahead of him. Sun-glasses covered her eyes, but he could just barely make out the markings of fissures. He raised and eyebrow, the cigerette still in his mouth, a small stream of smoke coming off of it.
(Now I get ready for my interview. Butterflies in meh tummy!! *jumps out*)

Lakshmi took a deep breath, just as a strong wind came up from behind-- and coughed. She hadn't smelled cigarette smoke in a very long time. Glancing around, she quickly noticed a man sitting down on a bench a little ways behind her. She hadn't seen him when she'd walked past, so he must've just missed him, or was really tired.
"Hello?" she called, taking in the man's appearance from where she stood. He looked a little rumpled, as if he'd been doing something all day and was now taking a breather before heading home. The light from the dying sun really lit up the man's pale blonde hair, making it almost shimmer in her keen eyesight. Curious now, Lakshmi tuned in her eyes, keying up her Manifestation, and saw first and foremost the man's current weakness: he was drunk. Not wanting to use her manifestation more than she had to, she blinked a few times, toning it down. Headache. Damn. Perhaps this man had the right idea being drunk. It did take away some of the day's pains.

A chuckle, deep yet it a bit of a high-pitched tone to it, escaped him and he took the cigarette from his mouth, holding it lightly in between two fingers. He blew out a breath.
"Hello there, little lady," he said, a small smirk on his face. He leaned his head back, his eyes hidden from view by his blonde hair, which was a good thing considering there were horrible bags underneath them at the moment. "Don't mind me...just an old drunkard with nothing much to live for havin' a smoke."
He glanced at her from under his hair. Once again, he caught the faint glimps of fissures.
"Ah....a Manifested I see," he tapped his cigarette and ash fell from the tip.

"And is there something wrong with that?"
A deep voice rang out in the night. "Everybody is human, my friends, all made from the same basic material." There was a sort of boyish innocence to this deep voice, and a man emerged from the darkness of a side alley.
He was tall, thickly built, a charismatic and boyish smile gracing his features. His fingers trailed delicately against the wall of the alley, and wherever they touched, small grooves followed. "All made of matter. But that is somewhat beside the point, isn't it?" He stepped out of the alley, ran a hand through his dark brown hair, and smiled brightly. "Good evening."
An aura of strangeness radiated from the newcomer- Something about him was unsettling, in a way, something that screamed 'This man is not right'- But it was difficult to place.

Jay tilted his head to the side, a curious "hmm?" coming from his throat before putting up his hands, the cigarette once again in his mouth.
"No no." he said in his defense, "I have nothing against you, of course." He spoke with an amused tone, like it was some joke, which honestly wasn't good on his part, but hey he was drunk. He honestly couldn't give a fuck at the moment.
"I work with you people....welll....sort of ..." his head rolled back his hand flying limply in the air as he spoke, more evidence of his drunkardness. "I don't have a partner or anything....but 'eh...what can a guy do."

Lakshmi eyed the two men cautiously. She didn't want to strain her eyes more than what was necessary, especially after a full day's work, but she had a bad feeling about the second one. For a moment she considered flashing her Social Worker badge, but thought better of it, at least for now. No need to cause these men to suspect her. She felt very annoyed with herself for feeling rather nervous. A drunk and a strange Manifested. He was charismatic in how he spoke, but something was unsettling. Just... not quite right.
"I am not familiar with either of you," she said, taking off her sunglasses to fix both of them with her icy, unblinking gaze. "May I have names, or are we a bit shy?" Lakshmi spoke with her usual tinge of arrogance painting her Indian accent, figuring it would hide her nervousness. Not one for emotions, Lakshmi had become good at having a bit of a poker face. She always thought she'd be good at the game, but no one ever really played much anymore. Shame, really.

"The name 's Jay Wild," Jay said, his words slurring only a smidge. "I'm a Doctor...."
Once more his head rolled around and he took another drag of his cigarette, breathing out the smouth and watched as it floated up above his head. "Nothing much to a man like me, not in reality anyway..."
He turned his gaze towards Lakshmi, "...and what of yourself, ma'am?"

Lakshmi looked at the man whose name was Jay Wild. "Pleased to meet you, Mr. Wild," she said neutrally, giving him a nod. "My name is Lakshmi, but since that name is somewhat of a challenge to native English speakers, I often go by the nickname Lucky." Not wanting to reveal that she was a Social Worker just yet, she instead named her former profession. "I was an acrobat in what was formerly San Francisco, before I manifested."
Now she turned her gaze to the suspicious man, not bothering to disguise a slight glare in her eyes. "And what of you?"

Jay leaned back and smoked his cigarette, unfortunately it was almost done so he sighed and tossed it on the ground, stomping it out with his foot. He leaned back, and watched the woman carefully, though his mind was fuzzy and disoriented slightly from drinking, he still tried his best to analyze her.
Something seemed weird about her, not really as much as the other gent' that was with them, but he felt there was something she wasn't say. There was a sigh. Oh well, he thought, better leave women be.
